Spring 2015 dates, Information

Where We Are Now: Many patients have visited in recent weeks and been confused about the services we can currently provide.  As a clinic, it is always our goal to be fully staffed from students to physicians.  However, circumstances beyond our control do not always make this a possibility.  We are working tirelessly to establish relationships in the community with healthcare professionals to provide the best patient care possible.

To avoid confusion, we will begin posting the dates each month accompanied with information such as "doctor available."  However we want to remind everyone that we can always provide  the following services:

Screenings: Blood Pressure, BMI, Depression, Blood Glucose, and more
Patient Education: Medication List Explanations, Preventative Medicine, and more

February 14th, 2015: Health screenings & Education ~ "No Physician Available"
  • Medication List Walkthrough! Feel free to stop by. We would be happy to sit down and speak with you about any medications you might be taking.

February 28th, 2015: Health screenings & Education ~ "No Physician Available"
  • Blood Pressure & Hypertension Day! Learn all about blood pressure and what your numbers mean.  Every patient gets theirs taken every time they see a healthcare professional, but what does it really mean and why you should monitor yours!

Where We Are Going: Access to healthcare can have many barriers. We want to help you navigate through the system.  We currently have 2 primary goals.  Our first goal is to regularly have physicians available to assist patients with acute care problems.  We don't want to stop there.  Our second goal is to set up patients with healthcare navigators and aid them in finding long-term solutions to their healthcare needs.  We only ask for your patience as we continue to work with our partners to achieve this 2-fold goal.

Happy Holidays

Thank you to all of our patients who came and saw us during our first semester! As the holidays approach we will be closing the clinic for a few weeks while students are home visiting family.  We will reopen on January 10th, 2015 and we look forward to seeing you then.

Additionally as we move forward into 2015 the clinic will only be open the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month.  This decision was made to ensure the highest quality of care can be delivered with the resources that we currently have available.  Thanks once again and we look forward to continuing to serve the Wabash Valley.

We're Glad You Found Us

Welcome! we are very happy that you have stumbled upon our new MWMC blog/website.  Our clinic is enjoying 6 weeks of being open to the Terre Haute community and the response has been overwhelmingly positive from both patients and student-volunteers.  Please feel free to browse through the website to learn more about who we are and what our mission is here in Terre Haute.

As a second year medical student I spend the majority of my time with my nose inside Robins and Cotran Elements of Pathology.  While I do truly enjoy my studies, I have found the clinic to be an outlet unlike any other service organization I have been a part of.  Having the opportunity to practice my clinical skills while also helping the underserved in my community is an extremely rewarding opportunity.

At MWMC we are utilizing the energy of young physicians in training to provide health care, screenings and education (our three-fold mission).  But it is not just medical students and physicians at our clinic.  We are a multi-disciplined team of public health students, dietitians, and more.

Please subscribe to our blog and if you have any questions don't hesitate to contact us!
